The world of Hatter M. continues with issue number four as we travel deep into the underworld of time and break away from the traditional recollections of history. The dark places that we have not been privy to are unearthed within the pages of Hatter M. The lurking evil of a Wonderland at war and little Alyss lost.

Hatter seems to finally have a bead on Alyss, but she is trapped in a terrible place where children are drained of imagination. Only the Hatter can rescue her, or can he?

Once again Frank Beddor, Liz Cavaler and Ben Templesmith have managed to capture these events with prose and pictures, in such a way that even the most avid unbeliever will begin to question their stance on the subject.

I for one enjoy the black edge of this story. The truth that has settled behind the veil of fantasy and was lost as surly as poor Alyss herself is lost. Frank Beddor and Liz Cavalier are among a small handful of Historian the likes of which have not been seen. They dig in the ancient dirt and find truth where only fiction once stood.

Hatter M. cannot be described with one simple word. It can’t be bundled or titled. It deserves no category and stands alone as a work of art. The pages of these books are perfect even in their imperfections. The imagery and imagination raise the bar of what a graphic historical novel should be and can be.

If you love Graphic novels or are enchanted by the world of Wonderland you must read issues one through four of Hatter M. If you would like to delve even deeper or would like more information about Alyss and the Looking Glass Wars I strongly suggest you pick up the “The Looking Glass Wars” By Frank Beddor.

To find the truth you must follow the glow.
